GLIM tie-up for banking institute

Great Lakes Institute of Management (GLIM) has joined hands with the Union Bank of India to launch the Union Bank Center of Excellence in Banking at the institute.

On January 24, Bala V. Balachandran, Founder and Honorary Dean of Great Lakes Institute of Management and M.V. Nair, chairman and managing director of Union Bank signed a memorandum of understanding regarding this.

The centre will focus on research and knowledge management in the domain of banking in India and play a catalytic role in teaching, training and consulting.

The centre’s research objectives will be to map the dynamics of the banking businesses, its drivers and critical success factors, and to study the critical trends, challenges, and opportunities for the sector today and in the future.

The centre will also research the leadership and human resources management practices and design strategies and business models for the sector. All this research will be converted into appropriate teaching, training and consulting material.

The centre will also act as a banking database for academic researchers. It is envisaged that the centre will conduct certification courses in select areas in banking.
