EDUCATION PLUS

Education Plus - Anniversary Special

The Hindu greatly values its large and growing number of young readers, especially boys and girls in high school, young women and young men in college. In the varied fare it offers them, which it wishes to improve and develop in a big way, coverage of education ranks at the top.

It is in this context that the newspaper launched Education Plus in 2004 as a premium supplement aimed at providing higher secondary and college students with an exhaustive resource on courses and careers. As we complete five years, the need for such a resource has become even more important to help students navigate through the array of educational institutions, policies, and trends. Over this half decade, we have tracked the growth of the education sector, highlighted policy challenges, provided expert advice, and offered practical guidance to aid students in their quest for learning.

As we celebrate our fifth anniversary, we encourage our readers to become more actively involved in developing Education Plus. Whether you are a student or teacher, an education administrator or simply a concerned citizen, send us your ideas, opinions, and information about education in India. Also give us feedback on the articles we publish.

To mark this special occasion, we bring you a special issue. It is our take on the challenges facing education in 2009, especially in the context of the economic slowdown. Several students also offer us their perspectives and impressions and possible solutions for these challenges. The 24-page edition also features more informative articles, interviews, and exciting contests.
