BIM student teams make their mark

Student teams of Bharathidasan Institute of Management (BIM), Tiruchi, have asserted their competency in the national scene with victories in a string of recent contests across the country.

Brand promotion

A student team of BIM Ramani and Arjun won first prize in ADDICT — a brand promotion contest conducted by Indian Institute of Management-Calcutta. The contest was held in two rounds. The first round consisted of online testing on segmentation, positioning and targeting strategies. The BIM team was among the six which made it to the finals of the 590 participating teams in the prelims.

The rest in the finals comprised teams from IIMs and other top rung B-schools. The final round held at the campus was evaluated by P & G, the sponsor of the event.

Portfolio management

Likewise, the student team of Sivaprakasam, Ernest Kirubakaran and Nagarajan won the second prize in ‘Global Investors’, a portfolio management event conducted by TAPMI, Manipal.

In the first round, the participating teams took a quiz on finance and qualified for finals. The finals required teams to make investments in money market, stock and commodity markets. The teams were evaluated based on the value created out of these investments.

The six teams which took part in the finals were from top institutes and BIM students managed to win in the exciting finals.

And in the Business Quiz contest conducted by IIM, Bangalore, Nagamanikandan secured the second prize.

According to these successful students, in the changing times, the skill sets required for a manager is not just academic in nature but an overall development of the self.

They attribute their success to BIM’s emphasis on value-based education.
