I have completed M.A. in English and want to pursue M.Phil in English literature through correspondence mode. I am working in Bangalore. Which are the good universities for the above course? How can I find a guide for my M.Phil who will help me in selecting a topic for the thesis? Do I need to talk to the department concerned for a guide?

Medical Electronics is a specialised discipline that advances knowledge through cross-disciplinary activities that integrates the engineering sciences with biomedical sciences and clinical practice. Medical Electronics engineers develop devices and procedures that solve health-related problems by combining their knowledge of biology and medicine with engineering principles and practices. Many do research, along with life scientists, chemists, and medical scientists, to develop and evaluate systems and products such as artificial organs, prostheses (artificial devices that replace missing body parts), instrumentation, medical information systems, and health management and care delivery systems. Medical Electronics engineers also design devices used in various medical procedures, imaging systems such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and devices for automating insulin injections or controlling body functions.

Considering that the area of academics is highly specialised, you should attempt for a placement immediately on completion of the programme. Once you are on the job, you should join a programme that will permit you to pursue it on a part-time basis, which will also help you to continue with your work. You can pursue these programmes from institutes such as BITS, Pilani (Technical and Managerial) ( > and NIIT Imperia ( > These programmes will keep you in good stead and ensure you reach the top echelons in your field of choice.

Manpower consultants

We conduct MBA programmes for in-service executives on full- time and part-time basis. Most of them go back to the place of work from where they have been sponsored. At least 40 per cent of them look out for new opportunities. Can you help us to get manpower consultants who will be of support to us in placing learners with higher qualifications and experience of five to 15 years in jobs of their preference?
