What to do with waste? Kabadiwalla Connect is providing answers to this question through its bi-weekly sessions: Everyday Recycler’s Discussion Series. Last Sunday, the first of these sessions was held.

“The idea is to connect with people who are into composting and waste management and those who wish to try it out. Also, we want to create a support group for the residents. There are two million households in Chennai and if we can reach out to everyone, we could reduce the waste going to the landfills by 70 per cent,” says Siddharth Hande, founder of Kabadiwalla Connect.

Facebook and WatsApp groups have been created to keep the initiative going. “The movement promoting responsible management of waste is quite strong, especially following the floods. So much of waste was generated and people did not know what to do with it. We felt it is the right time to reach out to them. As of now, we plan to keep it a bi-weekly programme for a small group. Depending on the level of participation, we would like to make it a weekly event,” he adds. To participate in the upcoming programmes, email to sid@kabadiwallaconnect.in.
