THE PRESENT work is a well documented and authentic commentary on the Sri Lalitha Sahasranama which has a unique place for its literary and mystical excellence. The author was an authority on the knowledge of the six-chakras. The process of yogic experience connected with the study was a matter of experience and practice to him.

The author was an erudite scholar on Sanskrit and philosophical texts besides being an exponent of Mantra and Tantra sastras. His scholarship in literature was well acclaimed when he wrote two novels. In matters of religion and philosophy he was associated with Sri Sringa-Giri Peetham of Adi Sankaracharya and was honoured by the Swamijis of his time.

There are many commentaries on this hymn in Sanskrit, and among them that of Sri Bhaskara is considered important. The author has referred to this and other commentaries and given a comprehensive study for the benefit of Telugu readers.

Those specifically interested in this esoteric science of the Hindus will welcome this publication. All the 1000 names are systematically analysed with proper annotations and elucidations. Even a beginner will benefit from it.

The long drawn list of bibliography and the names of earlier authors consulted, provided at the end of the text, speak for the authenticity of the commentary. The publishers deserve praise for this admirable book.
