StorageTek sets up Indian arm

BANGALORE, MARCH 24. Three years after opening a representative office in India, the New York stock-exchange listed StorageTek, a provider of storage systems for IT users, has scaled up its operations by setting up a wholly-owned subsidiary to meet the growing local demand for its solutions.

StorageTek India Pvt. Ltd. will be headquartered in Bangalore and the company will invest over $10 million in the next three years, Andy Srinivasan, Regional Director, StorageTek Asia South Pacific, said at a press conference here on Thursday. As part of its expansion plans, StorageTek India has set up a software development unit in Pune while a second unit will start functioning in Bangalore in about 45 days. It will also ramp up its sales and support presence in Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Hyderabad. The company, which has a customer base of over 200 installations in India, plans to set up a professional services arm by the end of June this year to help Indian entities better manage their storage infrastructure, reduce management burden and maximise the return on technology investment.
