Sigma-Aldrich to set up production complex

HYDERABAD: Sigma-Aldrich Corporation plans to construct a $8 million, 50,000 sq. ft. laboratory scale production complex in the ICICI Knowledge Park here. Jai Nagarkatti, President, Scientific Research, said at the on-going BioAsia 2004 here on Thursday that the facility would eventually house 70 to 80 new chemists doing contract research, process development and small scale custom synthesis work, largely for pharma companies. The facility, to be fully operational by the first quarter of 2005, would serve as a feeder site for the company's larger scale production operations in Germany, Switzerland, the U.K. and the U.S, says a press release.
