Sanmar group's JV with U.S. firm

CHENNAI FEB. 15. The Chennai-based Sanmar group, known for successful management of joint ventures, has formed yet another joint venture. This time it is in a different field _ software sector.

In fact, it is converting Indchem Software Technologies, an existing subsidiary of the group engaged in offering comprehensive banking solutions, into a joint venture with Decision Consultants Inc. (DCI) of the U.S.

DCI is a premier provider of IT services to Fortune 1000 companies including Bank of America, Canadian Pacific Railway, DaimlerChrysler, Ford Motor, Nortel Networks and United Airlines.

Addressing a press conference here after the launch of an offshore performance centre of excellence (OPCOE) with DCI, N. Kumar, chairman of Indchem Software Technologies and vice-chairman of the Sanmar group, said the joint venture agreement provided for an exclusivity between the two companies with DCI as Indchem Software's sole U.S. partner and Indchem Software as DCI's sole Indian partner.

The relationship would provide each partner new access into the other partner's market, and the JV would be working within DCI's optimised delivery model to provide high-quality and cost-effective services on time.

Ed Longo, president & COO, DCI said the optimised delivery model provided clients with blended onsite, offsite and offshore teams customised to meet each client's project requirements. The model was flexibly designed to reduce labour costs while maintaining high quality standards.
