Need for setting up Indian competence centre

NEW DELHI OCT. 28. Nearly 30 stakeholders from parts of the country representing various organisations engaged in organic agriculture including NGOs, private companies, certifying agencies, marketing organisations, organic input producers, professionals, agricultural universities and government bodies have underscored the need for setting up an Indian Competence Centre for an interface between various stakeholders of the sector. The interface organisation shall complement and strengthen the activities of the stakeholders by collecting, analysing, documenting and disseminating information and knowledge; building capacity of individuals and institutions; advocating for and popularising organic agriculture; and networking and providing consultancy services. This emerged at a meeting of various stakeholders at the National Academy for Agricultural Sciences last week.
