MRO-TEK's revenue at Rs. 81 cr.

BANGALORE MAY 29. Last mile access solutions provider and networking company, MRO-TEK, earned a pre-tax profits of Rs.9.71 crores with revenues of Rs. 81.27 crores and a net profit of Rs. 6.94 crores for the year-ended March 31, 2002.

In the previous year, the company earned a revenue of Rs.125.43 crores and a net profit of Rs. 18.24 crores. ``The performance has been lower due to the weakening economy and dampened business environment in India and abroad.

These negative factors have had its effect on the first two quarters of the year and the pressure is likely to continue till the end of the year,'' S. Narayanan, Chairman & Managing Director, MRO-TEK Ltd said.

To increase its topline and bottom-line, MRO plans to extend its product portfolio both in the last mile access and networking segments.

It has also strengthened its tie-up with Israel's RAD Communications with the opening of a R& D cebtre while initiating talks with Malaysian firm, Afintra, to explore the Far-Eastern market.

The opening of net telephony, insurance, banking and finance industries are expected to present greater opportunities to networking and last mile access firms like MRO-TEK, according to Mr.Narayanan.
