Innovative healthcare product from Bajaj Allianz

CHENNAI: Bajaj Allianz General Insurance in association with the U.S.-based WorldCare Inc., a pioneer in the development and distribution of global healthcare services and solutions, launched on Saturday a product, e-Opinion Rider.

e-Opinion is a form of distance healthcare (tele-medicine), where a patient's medical record is transmitted electronically over the Internet to a medical centre where it is reviewed by qualified physicians who provide a written, second medical opinion and return it electronically.

Briefing newspersonsabout the product here, Rebika Shaw, WorldCare Training and Corporate Communication Regional Director, said such e-consultation would be rendered by three of America's best academic medical centres — the Cleveland Clinic, Duke University Health System and Partners HealthCare System, which included Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women's hospital.

Easwara Narayanan, Zonal Manager, South, said the product would give an opportunity to obtain the best of international expertise at a fraction of the cost.
