Golden Globe Award for Sutherland chairman

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Sutherland Global Services, Dilip R. Vellodi has won the Golden Globe Award instituted by Kerala Kalakendram for outstanding achievement.

A jury headed by the former Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University A. Sukumaran Nair selected Mr. Vellodi for the award for the leadership he had given in building his business process outsourcing company that employs more than 12,000 people worldwide, Sutherland said in a press release issued here on Saturday.

Previous recipients of the award include S. Gopalakrishnan of Infosys and the former Chief Election Commissioner T.N. Sheshan. The Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister T.K.A. Nair presented the award to Mr. Vellodi.

The press release said Sutherland would open a new business process outsourcing facility in Kochi before September this year.

The company expects to employ more than 3,000 people at the new centre within the next three years. It will invest over Rs.120 crores on its Kerala operations, the press release added.
