Colgate's H.P. plant on stream

MUMBAI: Colgate-Palmolive (India) Ltd. (CPIL) has announced that its new toothpaste making facility at Baddi in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh has commenced commercial production.

The company invested Rs. 105 crore in the new facility which is spread over an area of 36,000 sq. metres.

Graeme Dalziel, Vice President, South Asia and Managing Director, CPIL, said, "Our decision to locate this manufacturing facility in Baddi was driven by the investment friendly policies of the Himachal Pradesh government and the proximity to very well developed and established North Indian markets. This additional capacity has been set up to meet our anticipated domestic growth needs.''

More than 90 per cent of the 200-plus employees at Colgate's Baddi facility are residents of Himachal Pradesh and all Colgate employees have undergone rigorous training of 14 weeks before being inducted for actual plant operations.
