CHENNAI: J'adore Concepts Pvt. Ltd., a Singapore-based footwear company, has ventured into the Indian market with the launch of its flagship retail store here.

The ten-year-old company, which offers a range of designer leather footwear for women, has been established as a wholesaler catering to various brands in Italy, Japan, Korea and West Asia. J'adore has also been present in the retail market for the past four years, with its first store in China. J. S. R. Nalgin Bacchus, Director, J'adore Concepts, told mediapersons here recently that the Chennai outlet, located at Spencer Plaza, marked the company's first foray into India and that the initial investment involved was around Rs. 10 crore.

Rs. 10 crore outlay

Mr. Bacchus said he expected a turnover of S $3 million in the first year. "Instead of depending on celebrity endorsements, we hope to attract customers based on our product range, quality, service and workmanship," he said.

The Chennai showroom was the company's second exclusive retail store globally and J'adore was planning to open two more stores here shortly, he said. The company would also launch an outlet each in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Mumbai probably by end-2008, Mr. Bacchus said, adding that it had no plans of entering the men's footwear segment. J'adore would offer customers unique after-sales services.
