Eveready hikes battery prices

NEW DELHI: Eveready Industries on Friday announced an increase in prices of its products by up to 10 per cent due to surging input costs and recent increase in excise duty. According to company Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Deepak Khaitan: “Over the past five months there has been a continuous upward climb in the prices of zinc, a key raw material for making batteries, which has adversely impacted the manufacturing cost of batteries. We are increasing the prices of all types of batteries by 5-10 per cent with immediate effect,” he added. — Special Correspondent
