Situation dangerous, says Powell

Washington Oct. 26. The U.S. today admitted that the situation in Iraq was ``dangerous'' as some remnants of the old regime did not want to see democracy established in the country. ``We are in for a long, hard test of wills and we have to be prepared to meet that'', the Secretary of State, Colin Powell, said on NBC's ``Meet the Press''.

Claiming that the Iraqi people welcomed the Americans as liberators, he said ``we are still in a dangerous situation'' because there were remnants of the old regime and some terrorists who do not want to see democracy established in Iraq and people enjoying a better life. So we have work ahead of us and will not shrink from this workWe have to get the security situation under control and at the same time move forward with relief and reconstruction.''
