Pak. briefs U.S. on talks cancellation

Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif told U.S. National Security Adviser Susan Rice here on Sunday that his country wanted a “meaningful” and “objective” dialogue with India on all outstanding issues, amid reports that she was here on an “emergency visit” in the wake of border tensions between the two nations.

In his meeting with Ms. Rice, Mr. Sharif gave the U.S. delegation the reasons for the cancellation of talks between the National Security Advisers of India and Pakistan, Dawn News reported.

He said Pakistan wanted a “meaningful” and “objective” dialogue on all outstanding issues.

Ms. Rice arrived here on a day’s visit to exchange views on various matters and prepare the agenda for Mr. Sharif’s visit to the U.S. in October. — PTI
