Man burnt alive as car catches fire

June 15, 2013 12:00 am | Updated 06:10 am IST - HYDERABAD:

An unidentified man was burnt alive after the car he was driving caught fire on the P.V. Narasimha Rao Express Highway on Friday.

He was on his way from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport side to the city when the Swift Dzire car caught fire near Pillar No. 179 at Upparpally within the Rajendranagar police station limits around 6.20 p.m.

The police are yet to find out the cause of the fire.

“Neither the car rammed the divider nor did any other vehicle hit it. It looks like sparks flew while the car was moving, and the driver stopped it abruptly in the middle of the road,” Rajendranagar Inspector Jayaram said.

Investigators believe the flames engulfed the driver before he could unfasten the seat belt and get off the car.

Those who have any idea about the victim can alert police on telephone nos. 24015333, 94906 17194, 27852818 or 27852923.
