‘LF agrees on new name for State'

All constituents of the Left Front agree on the nomenclature of the State and the Front will present its view at the all-party meeting convened by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday, said State Left Front Committee chairman Biman Bose here on Thursday.

However, Mr. Bose did not reveal which name the Left Front had decided upon at its meeting here.

On the issue of reorganisation of the districts, Mr. Bose said the Left Front was not concerned with the names of the bifurcated districts, but wanted that all-party meetings be convened at the district-level to discuss the areas that would constitute the new districts and the opinion of important personalities from the districts sought.

He said that decisions on which blocks should constitute a sub-division or which police station area should they come under must be taken only in consultation with them.

“It is our experience that many hurdles are created and protests voiced at the local level if a decision like this is thrust upon them,” he said.
