High Court upholds ‘status quo’ order on beef festival in OU

A division bench of the High Court at Hyderabad comprising Acting Chief Justice D. B. Bhosale and Justice S.V. Bhatt on Wednesday ruled that every one should abide by the rule of law and said that the bench would not pass any further orders in view of the ‘status quo’ orders already passed by the local civil court regarding the proposed ‘beef festival’ on the Osmania University campus.

The bench was dealing with a case filed K. Raju of Osmania University. He sought a direction to the authorities to prevent the beef festival on December 10 as it would vitiate the academic atmosphere on the university campus. The government pleader appearing for the Telangana state government submitted that all steps had been taken in this regard especially in view of the status quo orders passed by a civil court. The bench said that it was confident that all would follow the rule of law and made it clear that the law would take its own course. The case would now come up on Friday.
