Financial assistance for NoRKs

The State government has come up with a financial assistance package for Non-Resident Keralites (NoRKs) who could not return to their place of work abroad and are stranded since the lockdown.

The Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, at its meeting on Wednesday, decided to allot Rs. 50 crore from the Chief Minister's Disaster Relief Fund to NoRKA-Roots, the field agency of the Department of Non-Resident Keralites to provide financial assistance to the expatriates.

The Chief Minister told mediapersons that Rs. 5,000 each would be provided to expatriates who were unable to return to work abroad.

This is in addition to the Rs. 8.5 crore given earlier, he said.

Appreciation

The Chief Minister’s certificate of appreciation will be given to all the members of the Covid Brigade, Mr. Vijayan, said.
