The Udupi police on Sunday arrested sub-inspector of Hiriyadka D.N. Kumar and two other police personnel after it was found that cattle trader Hussainabba, 62, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances near Perdoor on May 30, had in fact died in the police vehicle. In a release, Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi said after finding the victim dead, the police along with other accused, who had informed them about illegal transport of cattle, kept the body a kilometre away from the place where the cattle transporting vehicle was waylaid. Later, the police registered a case of unnatural death in the morning of May 30, saying Hussainabba must have died of cardiac arrest while fleeing from the police the previous night.
