Assembly dissolution today

Hyderabad Nov. 13. The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, has convened a meeting of his Cabinet at 9.45 a.m. tomorrow, which will recommend to the Governor the dissolution of the State Assembly.

This is presumably the second time that a Government in office is seeking a fresh mandate ahead of its term. It was the Telugu Desam Party, headed by N.T. Rama Rao, which went in for snap polls in early 1985. `NTR' had emerged stronger from the August 1984 turmoil when he was unconstitutionally thrown out in a coup by N. Bhaskara Rao.

Back in the saddle under massive public pressure a month later, NTR decided to go in for early polls to consolidate the unprecedented public sympathy generated by his ouster.
