TRS rebels’ resignation a drama: CPI (M)

NELLORE: Speaker K. R. Suresh Reddy’s decision to accept the resignations of six Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) rebel MLAs was a drama and the act was an effort to turn the six legislators in favour of Congress party, said CPI (M) State secretary B.V. Raghavulu.

Speaking to the newsmen here on Tuesday, he said the Speaker who was acting at the behest of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajashekara Reddy has insulted the Chair and has degraded the value of the State with his decision on the six rebel MLAs. He alleged that Mr. Suresh Reddy had never behaved in a dignified manner in the past four and a half years as a Speaker.

“How can the Speaker give exemption from anti-defection law for the six legislators who violated the party’s whip and accept their resignations. The pro-statements of the six MLAs for Congress and the Speaker’s action shows that it was a drama,” he said.

The CPI (M) will meet Governor N.D. Tiwari on Wednesday and submit a representation.
