Security breach at Karunanidhi’s house

: The city police arrested a person who trespassed into former Chief Minister and DMK president M. Karunanidhi’s residence in Mylapore and threatened his wife Rajathiammal with a toy gun.

Police investigation revealed that the suspect, Rajendra Prasad (30), had entered the house located in the posh residential area of CIT Colony unaware of the fact that it was Mr. Karunanidhi’s residence.

He had entered the first floor of the house and had hid himself inside the library which was open.

He remained there untill 12 noon, waiting for an opportunity to strike.

He later entered a bedroom.

When Ms. Rajathiammal and a relative entered the room at around 4 p.m., he suddenly appeared before them and threatened them, pointing a gun at Ms. Rajathiammal. He asked them to bring cash and jewels.

Promising to return with the jewels, Ms. Rajathiammal managed to slip away.

Rajendra Prasad held the other woman with him.

Ms. Rajathiammal rushed down and alerted the security staff who were on duty.

They went up and overpowered the suspect.

Ms. Kanimozhi, who was at a party meeting, rushed home on hearing about the incident.

DMK working president and Mr. Karunanidhi’s son M.K. Stalin also visited the spot.
