Engg. counselling from August 29

MCA and MBA counselling from August 19

Engineering counselling this year will start from August 29 and the counselling for MCA and MBA courses from August 19.

Yet, Technical Education Minister M. Venkata Ramana admitted to reporters here on Wednesday that there was no clarity with regard to engineering and pharmacy seats due to some inconsistencies in the list sanctioned by AICTE and a clear picture is likely to emerge by August 20.

However, ICET admissions are being taken up early as information on colleges and seats is available with the government.

Admissions will be done for 64,760 seats in 941 MBA colleges and 49,185 seats in 716 MCA colleges. This year, 29 new MBA colleges and one MCA college have been added.

September last week

The process of admissions will take at least 20 days and is likely to be completed by September last week.

Admissions will be done through web-based counselling for both ICET and EAMCET rankers.

The Minister also made it clear that second shift proposed in engineering, pharmacy, MBA and MCA colleges will not be permitted despite AICTE giving permission to some colleges.

However, second shift is being allowed for M.Tech and M.Pharm courses as there was a need for post-graduates for teaching in engineering and pharmacy colleges.

“Our stand is clear on second shift and if the colleges approach the court we will argue our case,” he said.
