To be handed over in a couple of months

The construction of District police office here on a sprawling area of 32,000 square feet at an estimated cost of Rs. 3 crore is nearing completion.

The Tamil Nadu Police Housing Corporation, Tiruchi, which is constructing the structure, is likely to hand over the new building to the department in a couple of months.

At least nine major units, functioning from rented premises at different places, will be accommodated in the two-storeyed building.

The ground floor will house the office of the Superintendent of Police, photo section, fingerprint wing and guard room.

Besides the chamber of the Superintendent of Police, the first floor will also house the office of the Additional Superintendent of Police (Prohibition Enforcement Wing), the Special Branch, conference hall and visitors' hall.

Second floor

The office of the Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime Branch), the Crime Branch Records Bureau, radio station and public micro terminal will function from the second floor.
