An awareness programme on World Clubfoot Day was conducted at the Institute of Child Health (ICH) and Hospital for Children in Egmore on Saturday. According to a press release, more than 500 children with foot deformities are treated every year at the hospital. Doctors said congenital clubfoot in children can be cured if diagnosed and treated at an early stage. Director of ICH Rema Chandramohan and Arun Mozhi Rajan, chief and head of Department of Paediatric Orthopaedics, participated. More than 100 children, who were cured of ankle deformity at ICH, took part in the event.
