Fill vacancies in government departments: Panneerselvam

Former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam on Wednesday urged the DMK government to take steps to fill thousands of vacancies in government departments by regularly conducting recruitment through the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission. He said the DMK had claimed in 2021 that there were about 3.5 lakh vacancies in State government service. Further, one lakh government servants had retired during the past year, he said. Mr. Panneerselvam said 60% of the posts in all government departments were vacant, and additional human resources were being hired to ease the burden.
