Man falls to death while trying to steal cellphones

A 31-year-old man fell from the third floor of a house where he allegedly tried to steal cellphone handsets and died on Sunday night, according to the Saidapet police.

A senior police officer said Manikandan of Saidapet attempted to steal mobile phones from a window on the third floor of a house, rented by a group of bachelors, on Seshachalam Street.

Loses balance

When one of the residents in the house raised an alarm, he tried to escape but lost his balance and fell from the third floor.

He died on the spot.

The Saidapet police rushed to the spot and sent the body to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital for a post-mortem.
