The Cricket Association of Bihar (CAB) secretary, Aditya Verma, on Thursday said he had moved the Supreme Court with an application to declare N. Srinivasan ineligible to hold the post of Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) president for “breaching” a BCCI regulation.
Besides, Verma has also sought to restrain Srinivasan from attending the BCCI meetings even as a TNCA representative.
The application, filed on Thursday, had been listed for hearing on October 5, Verma told reporters here. The hearing will coincide with the other case in which the BCCI has sought the apex court’s guidance as to whether Srinivasan can attend its meetings.
The CAB secretary relied on the Supreme Court judgement, dated January 22, 2015, “which disallows any person who has commercial interest in BCCI events from contesting elections”.
He referred to the application (filed by the BCCI) which showed that the transfer of (ownership of) IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings from India Cements Ltd. to a trust “was nothing but a mirage” and Srinivasan’s conflict of interest still continued.
Verma said if Srinivasan attended any BCCI meeting it would be a “contempt of orders earlier passed by the Supreme Court”.
Meanwhile, two Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) members on Wednesday submitted documents related to “conflict of interest” by BCCI joint secretary Amitabh Choudhary to the Supreme Court-appointed Justice R.M. Lodha Committee.
