Italian duo Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci out in 2nd round

A day after beating Venus Williams in singles at the U.S. Open, Sara Errani and her partner, Roberta Vinci, were knocked out in the second round as the top-seeded team in women’s doubles.

Errani and Vinci, the Italians who were the 2012 champions at Flushing Meadows, lost 6—4, 1—6, 6—4 Saturday to Jarmila Gajdosova and Ajla Tomljanovic of Australia.

At Wimbledon last month, Errani and Vinci won the title to complete a career Grand Slam in doubles.
