Renne loses singles, wins doubles

Udit Gogoi made it to the semifinals of both singles and doubles in the Asian under-14 tennis championship in Nonthaburi, Thailand, on Thursday.

Undefeated record

Among the six Indian players, Udit was the only one to maintain an undefeated record so far, as he cruised into the singles semifinals for the loss of one game, and made the doubles semifinals in partnership with Aman Dahiya.

Renne Singla’s fine run was halted in singles by eighth seed Kittika Aeb Iem of Thailand.

However, she made the doubles semifinals along with Sanjana Sirimalla.

The results (quarterfinals):

Boys: Chak Lam Coleman Wong (Hkg) bt Aman Dahiya 6-2, 6-2; Udit Gogoi bt Quoc Uy Vo (Vie) 6-0, 6-1.

Doubles: Aman Dahiya & Udit Gogoi bt Siwanat Auytayakul & Suphawat Saeoui (Tha) 7-5, 6-1.

Girls: Kittika Aeb Iem (Tha) bt Renne Singla 7-5, 6-3.

Doubles: Renne Singla & Sanjana Sirimalla bt Kittika Aeb Iem & Salakthip Qunmuang (Tha) 7-6(4), retd.
