Ramkumar Ramanathan, ranked 222 in the world, upset world No. 8 and top seed Dominic Thiem in straight sets, 6-3 6-2, to enter the quarter-finals of the Antalya Open in Turkey. This is Ramanathan’s biggest win till date.
It was a clinical performance from Ramanathan, who beat the Austrian in under an hour. Thiem was a semi-finalist in this year’s French Open. This will be Ramanathan’s second ATP tour quarter-final appearance, the first instance coming in the 2016 Chennai Open.
