Purav-Junaid pair in final

Purav Raja and Rameez Junaid of Australia made the doubles final with a 6-2, 4-6, [10-7] victory over third-seeded Mikhail Elgin and Yaraslav Shyla in the $75,000 Challenger tennis tournament here.

In the final, the top-seeded Indo-Aussie duo will take on second seeds Timur Khabibulin of Kazakhstan and Vladyslav Manafov of Ukraine.

V.M. Sandeep lost 6-2, 6-4 to Baoluo Zheng of China in the title clash in Colombo.

The results: $75,000 Challenger, Istanbul: Doubles (semifinals): Rameez Junaid (Aus) & Purav Raja bt Mikhail Elgin (Rus) & Yaraslav Shyla (Blr) 6-2, 4-6, [10-7].

$15,000 ITF men, Cairo: Doubles (final): Alexander Erler (Aut) & Markos Kalovelonis (Rus) bt Anirudh Chandrasekar & Aryan Goveas 6-4, 7-6(3).

ITF grade-5 juniors, Colombo (finals): Boys: Baouluo Zheng (Chn) bt V.M. Sandeep 6-2, 6-4. Girls: Mei Hasegawa (Jpn) bt Malikaa Marathe 6-2, 7-6(5).

Doubles (final): Chui Kei Leung (Hkg) & Jessica Christa Wirahdipoernomo (Ina) bt Archita Mahalwal & Akshaya Suresh 6-3, 7-6(5) .
