Defending champion Sumit Nagal has been granted a wild card for the upcoming Bengaluru Open $150,000 ATP Challenger tennis event. Nagal’s victory in the previous edition propelled him to a career-best ranking of 213, but he has since slipped to 310.
This is the second wild card that has been awarded, with Suraj Prabodh taking the first spot after winning the Bengaluru Open Wild Card AITA ranking tennis event last month. Two more wild cards will be announced.
“I am really happy to play in one of my favourite Challenger events on the Tour. The atmosphere was amazing [last year], and the love I received from the Bengaluru crowd was phenomenal,” Nagal said.
Sunil Yajaman, Tournament Director, stated, “Sumit deserves a wild card for his performance in last year’s Bengaluru Open. He has a bright future.”
The tournament commences at the KSLTA Stadium on November 12.
