Karunuday downs Vijay

Karunuday Singh put himself in line for a double crown with a high quality fare in the $10,000 ITF men's Futures tennis tournament at the DLTA Complex here on Friday.

It will be an all-Indian final on the morrow, as the seventh-seeded Vijayant Malik got past the champion of last week, Patrik Rosenholm of Sweden, as the latter retired early in the second set, complaining of fever and cold.

The results : Singles (semifinals) : Karunuday Singh bt N. Vijay Sundar Prashanth 4-6, 7-5, 6-2; Vijayant Malik bt Patrik Rosenholm (Swe) 7-5, 3-0 retired. Doubles (final) : Vitali Reshetnikov (Rus) and Karunuday Singh bt N. Vijay Sundar Prashanth and Arunprakash Rajagopalan 5-7, 6-2, 10-7.
