Hanescu upsets Dolgopolov

Victor Hanescu of Romania upset fifth-seeded Alexandr Dolgopolov of Ukraine 6-3, 6-3 at the Nice Open on Friday to reach his first final of the year.

At Dusseldorf, Germany will play defending champion Argentina in the final of the World Team Cup after beating Russia 2-1.

The results: At Nice (Nice Open): Semifinals: Nicolas Almagro bt Tomas Berdych 6-4, 6-4.

Victor Hanescu bt Oleksandr Dolgopolov Jr. 6-3, 6-3.

At Strasbourg (Strasbourg International): Semifinals: Andrea Petkovic bt Daniela Hantuchova 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.

Marion Bartoli bt Anabel Medina Garrigues 6-1, 6-2.
