Yuki-Moya out of Chennai Open

India’s Yuki Bhambri and former world number one Spaniard Carlos Moya failed to hold on to their nerves at crucial junctures as they crashed out of the Chennai Open after being defeated by Spain’s Marcel Granollers and Santiago Ventura 7-5, 6-1 in the doubles quarterfinal.

Both Yuki and Moya lacked the required coordination and failed to move from their positions at the baseline to receive the serves. Their on court movement was totally restricted.

More than anything, the pair of Yuki-Moya did not live up to the momentum that they showed in their first round match on Wednesday.

However, the Indian interest still remains in the championship, as third seeded Indian duo of Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna progressed to the doubles quarterfinals with a 6-3, 7-6 (5) win over American pair of James Cerretani and Travis Rettenmaier in the rain-affected match.
