Former World No.1 junior, Yuki Bhambri has been given an entry in the boys section of the tennis event in the Youth Olympic Games to be played in Singapore from August 15 to 21.
He will be the only Indian entry in the tennis event, which will feature draws of 32 in singles for both boys and girls.
Singles acceptances were mainly based on a player's world ranking apart from regional ranking. Four other spots were allocated either by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) or automatically given to the next highest ranked players.
“With nearly 40 countries from seven regions, it is exciting to see tennis so well represented at the first Summer Youth Olympic Games,'' said the president of the International Tennis Federation (ITF), Francesco Ricci Bitti, in a release issued by the ITF on Tuesday.
