Robin Soderling, the French Open runner-up, will be seen in action at the next edition of the Chennai Open as the Swede confirmed his participation in India’s only ATP World Tour tennis tournament.

Soderling, world number 10, had defeated Rafael Nadal before losing to Roger Federer in the final of the French Open this year.

Marin Cilic, the winner of the previous edition, has already confirmed his participation.

“Chennai Open is a much-awaited event in the international tennis circuit. India is a fascinating country and I am looking forward to visiting India and playing at the tournament this year,” Soderling said in a press release.

M A Alagappan, President of the Tamil Nadu Tennis Association, said, “Tennis fans in Chennai and India will be excited with confirmation from Robin Soderling. He is one of the top-ranked players in the world and his presence will enthral the players and fans alike. We are delighted to host him at Aircel Chennai Open 2010.”

Chennai Open will begin on January 4 and conclude on January 10.
