The ‘Peace and Sports Image of Year' award for 2010 will be conferred on the Indo-Pak tennis pair and US Open doubles runners-up, Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi during the 21st Georges Bertellotti Golden Podium Awards, Monaco on December 2 according to a media release of Go Sport.
The award, which is being presented by Sportell, Monaco and Getty Images, is to be given to the two players for presenting the best image of fraternity and showing the ability of sport to advance peace in the world and encourage reconciliation among people.
“Bopanna and Qureshi managed to bring the political authorities in their respective countries closer, through their own history of personal friendship and commitment,” the award's citation added.
