Jao clinches title

Top-seeded Chi-Shan Jao of Chinese Taipei successfully held a comeback bid from second-seeded Rishabdev Raman of India to win the boys' singles title in the ONGC-ITF junior tennis championship here at the DKS Sports Complex on Saturday.

Third seed Donna Vekic of Croatia defeated her doubles partner and fifth seed Elizaveta Kulichkova of Russia in straight sets to annex a double. The two teamed up to down the Thai-Indonesian pair of Napatsakorn Saenkaew and Aldila Sutjiadi on Friday to win the doubles crown.

The results (all finals; Indians unless specified):

Boys' singles: 1-Chi-Shan Jao (Tpe) bt 2-Rishabdev Raman 6-1, 1-6, 6-3. Doubles: 4-Haadin Bava/ Vilasier Khate bt 1-Vinod Gowda/ Kai-Wen Lai (Tpe) 6-4, 7-6(5).

Girls' singles: 3-Donna Vekic (Cro) bt 5-Elizaveta Kulichkova (Rus) 6-2, 6-3. — Principal Correspondent
