Shapovalov & Bopanna out

Rohan Bopanna and Canada’s Denis Shapovalov lost 6-4, 5-7, 11-9 to Nikola Mektic and Franko Skugor of Croatia in the quarterfinals of the Japan Open here on Thursday.

Divij Sharan and Artem Sitak of New Zealand lost in straight sets to French second seeds Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasselin.

The quarterfinal entry was worth 90 ATP points and $15,500 each to the two teams.

In the Challenger in Barcelona, Ramkumar Ramanathan and Sergio Martos Gornes of Spain made the doubles semifinals, beating Spaniards Inigo Cervantes and Oriol Roca Batalla 12-10 in the super tie-break.
