Dhunjibhoy remains RWITC Chief

Khushroo Dhunjibhoy was once again elected the Chairman of Royal Western India Turf Club Ltd (RWITC), by the newly elected members of the managing committee, at the 103rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Thursday (Sept.6) at Mahalaxmi Race Course Mumbai.

Geoffrey Nagpal also retained his post as the Chairman of Stewards of the Club, as per the decision of the new managing committee.

Shyam Ruia has once again topped the list this year by garnering 747 votes while, Jaydev Mody lost in this year’s poll as he ended 10th out of 12 contestants and earned 595 votes.

Ms. Zinia Lawyer who tasted success this year also with 718 votes, created history by becoming the first woman Steward on the decision making body of the RWITC’s Managing Committee.

Surendra Sanas from Pune, who made his debut in this year’s RWITC elections was successful to earn 699 votes and will be the new face in the committee room.

Gautam Lala, Sunil Jhangiani, Ram Shroff and Milan Luthria are also among the winners.

Elected Members: Shyam Ruia (747), Geoffrey Nagpal (726), Khushroo Dhunjibhoy (720), Gautam Lala (719), Zinia Lawyer (718), Surendra Sanas (699), Sunil Jhangiani (630), Ram Shroff (627) and Milan Luthria (617). Shiven Surendranath (487 votes) and Rahul Bhat (478 votes) failed to get a place in the nine-member managing committee.

Board of Appeal: Gulamhusein A.Vahanvaty with 791 votes and Asif Lampwala with 673 votes were elected to the BOA. Byram Jeejeebhoy who received 605 votes lost the polls of BOA.
