BRC statement

February 21, 2012 04:11 pm | Updated February 22, 2012 09:17 am IST - BANGALORE:

The occurrence of events at the Bangalore Race Course on Feb. 15 involving the unprovoked assault on two racehorse owners in the the club by a section of stable employees had resulted in temporary dislocation of training and racing activity at the racecourse, according to a press release from the BRC on Tuesday.

“This violent action of the stable employees deserves to be condemned, particularly as they had chosen to rescind their earlier stand agreed upon in writing with Owners/Trainers on February 14, 2012. This attitude of negating the fruits of extensive discussions over several days, clearly demonstrates the unwillingness of stable employees to conclude the matter in a peaceful and harmonious manner.”

“While the assault is being criminally investigated by the authorities, Owners/Trainers have in the meantime made adequate alternate arrangements for exercising and training of horses, in the temporary void sought to be created by the stable employees themselves.

“The situation is being met with the Club and Owners/Trainers jointly resolving and acting in a spirit of unity to continue hosting activities at the BRC.
