Bangalore winter season from tomorrow

The Bangalore Winter Meeting 2018-19, comprising of 26 race days, is scheduled to commence on Friday (November 2), and conclude on Friday (March 22, 2019). Racing will be held mainly on Friday and Saturdays. The Bangalore Derby is scheduled to be run on Saturday (January 26).

Briefing the media here on Wednesday, the BTC Chairman Harimohan Naidu said aggregate of prize money, cups, incentives, subsidy and contributions for the winter meeting involve a total outlay of about ₹15.50 crores. The level of prize money for all the categories during winter season will be the same as that of summer meeting 2018.

Added money for some sweepstakes races are increased. Number of races will be restricted to a maximum eight on all race days at the option of the Stewards. Minimum number of acceptors has been retained at 6 with respect to races to be run over a distance of 1,800m and more and in respect of races for horses rated 75 and above.

Maximum number of acceptors in respect of ordinary races will continue to be 12 except the classic days where the maximum number of runners will be 14. About 640 betting terminal will be in operation, including 100 betting terminals at off-course betting centres located outside the racecourse. 750 horses and 225 two-years-old are likely to participate during the season.

The members of the Board of Appeal for the winter season are V. Vijayendra Velu (Chairman), Dr. J. Alexander, B.K. Das, I.S.N Prasad, Shivkumar Kheny and T. Suneel Kumar.

Racing Dates: Nov: 2 and 3, 9, 17, 23, 30; Dec: 1, 7, 14 and 15, 20, 28 and 29; Jan: 5, 11, 17, 25 and 26; Feb: 1, 8 and 9: 14, 22, Mar: 8, 15, and 22.
