Dwarakanath passes away

Sozhi Janakiram Dwarakanath (68), former senior racing correspondent of The Hindu , passed away after a prolonged illness at a Secunderabad hospital on Monday night.

With over four decades of racing reportage behind him, he was adjudged champion tipster over a dozen times by the Hyderabad Race Club (HRC) in Malakpet. Prior to joining The Hindu , he had served at The Indian Express and the now defunct Newstime .

His last rites will be performed at his native town of Panruti in Tamil Nadu's Cuddalore district at noon on Wednesday.

He is survived by wife and son.
