Twins Vijayveer Sidhu and Udhayveer Sidhu led with 291 out of 300 at the end of the precision stage in the junior men’s sports pistol in the 52nd World Shooting Championship here on Wednesday.
While Vijayveer had an identical 97 in the three series, Udhayveer had 96, 98 and 97, as the two 16-year-old led by two points ahead of Ernests Erbs of Latvia.
The third Indian shooter in the fray Rajkanwar Singh Sandhu was on 279. India did have the lead for the team championship, but Rajkanwar may have to fare better to ensure that India’s stays ahead of US and China.
In men’s centre fire pistol, Olympian Gurpreet Singh and Olympic silver medallist shot an identical 288 at the end of the precision series, seven points away from the leader Julio Almeida of Brazil.
Anish Bhanwala was in the 34th place with 283.
